Tender description

Why the Work is Being Done The MCA has a requirement for a supplier to provide a quotation to improve and enhance our service availability and data security to one of our live legacy system databases. Problem to Be Solved The database server is currently hosted on an Oracle database on legacy IBM BladeCentre EXN4000 systems storage. As a first priority we require a new temporary backup solution to enhance our data security, then we need to ensure storage hardware is at optimum health. It is envisaged that the successful supplier will visit our site to examine the set-up and to provide a quotation based on their assessment of the work. Who Are the Users The users are internal and are spread across the UK. ICT would like to proactively look at fresh ways to maintain our access to this data and secure the data. Early Market Engagement Work Already Done Some work has been undertaken to migrate from Physical to Virtual but this is still in discovery phase. Existing Team 1X Business Systems Applications Manager Possibility of some consultation with one internal Oracle DBA - Fixed term appt. Current Phase Discovery Work Location Whilst many aspects can be delivered via Remote Working access, any hardware inspection or related activities would need to be undertaken at our Head Office in Southampton. Working Arrangments There is no fixed requirement for a supplier to be on site, this should be judged by the supplier based on how best to provide any agreed solutions. As a consideration, MCA staff are usually available Monday - Friday 9-5. Security Clearance SC (Security Clearance) is usually required for anybody who has a requirement to have unsupervised access to the data itself, which is classed as OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE Additional T&Cs https://www.gov.uk/guidance/ir35-find-out-if-it-applies Skills & Experience Arrange provision of Legacy IBM Bladecentre EXN4000 support Provide a temporary backup solution for Oracle DB hosted on IBM infrastructure Nice to Haves Have a working knowledge of both legacy and new technology, bridge the gap No. of Suppliers to Evaluate 3 Proposal Criteria Approach and methodology - Exploration work to provide options Cultural Fit Criteria Have a respect for commercial sensitivity within a government department Work as a team with our organisation and (potentially) other suppliers Take responsibility for their work - Provide warranty Can work with clients with low technical expertise Challenge the status quo Payment Approach Fixed price Assessment Method Written proposal Presentation Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 70% Cultural fit 10% Price 20% Questions from Suppliers No questions have been answered yet Budget range
