Tender description
Nottingham City Council requested tenders for the provision of a range of Translation and Interpretation Services. The framework consists of 4 lots: Lot 1: Verbal Face to Face Interpretation; Lot 2: Sensory Impairment; Lot 3: Telephone and Video Interpretation; Lot 4: Translation. 2 Contractors have been awarded to Lot 2 and 3 Contractors have been awarded to Lots 1, 3 and 4. The contract duration will be for 2 years with a possible extension of 1 year + 1 year at the Authority's discretion. The Framework will also be made available to a number of partner organisations. Lot 1 will be accessed when the customer requires a spoken language to be translated into another language by an interpreter who is in physical attendance. The delivery of the service will be requested in different formats and is likely to include both consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, as required. Services should be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and must be delivered in a person centred manner. Lot 2 will be accessed where the customer requires translation and interpretation services for deaf and sensory impaired individuals. This includes, but is not limited to British Sign Language, Sign Language in other languages, lip speaking, video linguists, sign supported English and speech to text operators. It also includes translation into braille, easy read, audio transcription and communication with Deaf / Blind people. Services should be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and must be delivered in a person centred manner. Lot 3 will be accessed when the customer requires a spoken language to be interpreted into another language by an interpreter over the telephone or by video link. Lot 4 refers to the conversion of written documents into another language as text and it covers both hard copy and electronic translation services. Timescales for the completion of work and acceptable contractor cancellation period will be provided with each individual quote. It is anticipated that the majority of projects will not exceed five working days to complete. Contractors are required to have the necessary quality assurance arrangements in place to ensure effective project management of any larger scale projects required.
