UWE, Bristol has entered into a programme of work to replace its in-house student information system. The first phase of the programme will be the procurement of a curriculum management solution to become the master source of curriculum data. The University aims to implement a solution which will create a master data set for curriculum information that integrates with existing and future downstream applications and that enables a more efficient and responsive use of curriculum data that supports enhancement, curriculum delivery management and external reporting requirements. The first phase of the programme will be the procurement of a curriculum management solution to become the master source of curriculum data. Currently, curriculum approval and review processes, and the resulting data is managed via a bespoke adaptation of a generic, software solution. There is no integration or transfer of curriculum data from the existing solution to other University systems e.g. student records and timetabling, and no definitive system (or processes) for the maintenance and management of curriculum instances. The University aims to implement a solution which will create a master data set for curriculum information that integrates with existing and future downstream applications and that enables a more efficient and responsive use of curriculum data that supports enhancement, curriculum delivery management and external reporting requirements. More broadly, over the course of 2017/18 the University is implementing a new hybrid data integration architecture to support the integration of data from our cloud-hosted IT systems with those on premise.
