Tender description

The DFID-funded Rural Access Programme Phase 3 (RAP3) builds and maintains important rural (district) roads in western Nepal. DFID has approved funding for the proposed Mugu-Humla Link Road to be implemented through RAP3. The road will connect Humla, the last unconnected district in Nepal, to neighbouring Mugu which is already connected to a strategic road. DFID wishes to seek the services of a supplier to design and build the Mugu-Humla link road in Nepal. The objectives of the RAP3 — Mugu Humla Link Road (MHLR) project are to carry out the detailed engineering design and construct approximately 67 km of engineered fair-weather earth road in accordance with Nepal Rural Road Standards, including all associated stabilization and drainage works. The final recipient of the road works will be Government of Nepal’s (GoN) Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MoFALD), the Department of Local Infrastructure Development and Agricultural Roads (DoLIDAR), and relevant new federal and local bodies when they will be fully able to take ownership of the project. With an envisaged start date in May 2018, this contract will be awarded for the period up to May 2020. However, weather, programme scheduling, severe climatic events and natural disasters can impact on the overall project duration. The Supplier is expected to include such items in their risk assessments and to demonstrate, as far as practicable, suitable mitigation strategies.
