Tender description
Mersey Ferries are looking to procure up to 2 new vessels as part of our long term strategy to ensure the Mersey Ferries service is available for future generations to enjoy. Our procurement requirements are based on one vessel, but seek options for the potential procurement of 2 vessels should that be economically advantageous. Whilst the organisation has a good understanding or our final requirements, we are anxious to ensure that we use this process to effectively engage with potential suppliers and embrace potential new technology and innovation to ensure our final product is the best it can be. Mersey Ferries are looking to procure up to 2 new vessels as part of our long term strategy to ensure the Mersey Ferries service is available for future generations to enjoy. Our procurement requirements are based on one vessel, but seek options for the potential procurement of two vessels should that be economically advantageous. Whilst the organisation has a good understanding or our final requirements, we are anxious to ensure that we use this process to effectively engage with potential suppliers and embrace potential new technology and innovation to ensure our final product is the best it can be. In order to inform the maritime industry of our plans to procure a new Mersey Ferry, we are planning a “Supplier Engagement Event”. The event will be held at 9:30 hours (GMT) on the 11.7.2018 at the Merseytravel Headquarters, 1 Mann Island, Liverpool L3 1BP. Registration and refreshments will be available from 9:30 hours with the presentation commencing at 10:00 hours. We expect the event to last until around 13:00 hours and there will be plenty of opportunity for potential suppliers to network with other suppliers during the event. During our Engagement Event, we hope to introduce the industry to our long term strategy for Mersey Ferries and share more details about our plans for new vessels moving forward. Presentations will be made by Merseytravel and our appointed Naval Architects, relating to Merseytravel’s requirements and aspirations for the supply of new vessels. We also plan to share details of our proposed procurement processes and timescales associated with such, allowing suitable time for you as a supply chain to plan appropriately. One of the key reasons for this event is to ensure we allow positive engagement between the potential supply chain, and we use the opportunity to promote the local supply chain here in the Liverpool City Region. Applicants who are unable, for any reason, to attend the Supplier Engagement Event will not be treated any less favourably in relation to the prequalification process or the subsequent stages of the Procurement than any organisation who does attend. Copies of all of the materials to be presented at the Supplier Engagement Event, and all questions and answers discussed at the event will be made available to all prospective Applicants who register their interest in this opportunity. All details will be posted via the opportunity on our online procurement portal, The Chest www.the-chest.org Our current thoughts will see the issue of a full OJEU notice in September 2018, however this is subject to change based on the details and feedback received from the market during this event. If you wish to attend the Supplier Engagement Event, we ask you to pre-register no later than 4.7.2018 via e-mail to tender@merseytravel.gov.uk including the names of those who will be attending on the day. Please note that attendance is limited to 3 people per supplier for logistical reasons.
