PURCH1597 Provision of a Confocal Microscope. The University has a requirement for a high definition scanning confocal microscope for intra vital imaging. This system will complement the existing imaging capabilities at the WCMP for both live and fixed tissues. The uses of the microscope will include examination and detailed analysis of tissue and exposed organs that have been labeled with probes with a variety of spectral characteristics, varying from DAPI through to the far red, and / or with a variety of autofluorescent proteins. The system will also be used for imaging live cell monolayers, and fixed samples. The system should combine the capability of providing sensitive detection of fluorescent molecules while minimizing phototoxicity. We require a system that is fast enough to capture migrating cells in tissue with enough speed and resolution.
