Tender description

UCC hereby issues this information in accordance with the requirements of EC directive 2004/18/EC (open procedure) and is seeking the submission of Tenders with respect to the appointment of an experienced specialist works contractor with significant expertise in the specialist area of Invasive Alien Plant Species (IAPS) for the eradication of Japanese Knotweed, Bohemian Knotweed and Himalayan Balsam from its North Mall Campus and adjacent lands. These specialist contractor services are required in light of proposals to further develop university facilities at the North Mall Campus under a Masterplan for the entire Site. UCC’s North Mall Campus is located just off Sunday’s Well Road in Cork City, in a largely urban landscape with remnant semi-natural habitats, along the north channel of the River Lee and includes the grounds of the former Irish Distillers Ltd. Site known locally as the ‘Cooperage’ and the ‘Distillery Fields’. Associated with the former distillery is a “Mill Race” or stream flowing through the Campus. University College Cork and Mercy University Hospital. Cork jointly acquired the Bottling Plant and associated buildings and grounds at the North Mall from Irish Distillers Ltd in 2004. The 11-acre Site (of which UCC is the owner of 9 acres) includes Distillery House (a protected structure) a disused Vat store, the Cooperage building and the Bottling plant. North Mall Campus currently hosts a number of UCC’s academic schools and departments including the School of BEES and the Applied Psychology Department. It is proposed to further develop academic and hospital facilities at the North Mall Campus under a Masterplan for the entire Site.
