Recovery, storage and disposal of seized vehicles

Tender description

The Environment Agency is an executive non-departmental public body responsible to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Our principal aims are to protect and improve the environment and to promote sustainable development. Where we have reasonable grounds to believe that a waste or fisheries offence has been committed, we have the power to seize vehicles under the following legislation: Environmental Protection Act 1990; Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989; and the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975. We have the power to retain seized vehicles under the Control of Waste (Dealing with Seized Property) (England and Wales) Regulations 2015 and Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975. These provisions allow an authorised Environment Agency officer to seize a vehicle and its contents. The Environment Agency is seeking a contractor to provide recovery, secure storage and disposal services. We are looking for a single contractor to provide a managed service which will give us a single point of contact in respect of seized property, mainly vehicles, in accordance with current legislation. Most seizures occur in the presence of the Police. Further information on our requirement can be found in the attached document.
