The purpose of this engagement event on 8.6.2018 is to discuss with potential market providers the requirements for a service model to deliver assessment, recovery and support services to victims of crime in Sussex. The services will be delivered on behalf of the Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner (SPCC) who holds the statutory duty for ensuring these services are in place whether an individual decides to report a crime to the police or not. The SPCC receives a grant from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) to commission local victim support services, in line with the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime 2015 and to support victims to achieve cope and recover outcomes. Following an analysis of current provision, the SPCC wishes to engage with the market ahead of a commissioning process, to ensure that the eventual model both meets the needs of victims of crime as well as being deliverable by the sector. The service should be focused on outcomes, helping victims to cope and recover, operating in a flexible and agile way to be responsive to the needs of the individual. The service is expected to work closely with other specialist service providers, deliver a high level of social value and ensure victims receive a seamless and integrated service. The new service will need to be operational from 1.4.2019.
