Tender description
Works at 4 separate locations on the Smithton Burn and Culloden Burn to provide a catchment wide flood protection scheme. Works at 4 separate locations on the Smithton Burn and Culloden Burn to provide a catchment wide flood protection scheme, including; Murray Terrace: Removal of a 1m diameter concrete culvert pipe and approxmately 8 000 m3 overburden and replacement with an open naturalised channel, incorporating step pools, reinforced concrete channel and natural channel bed. An 8m span timber footbridge and connecting footpaths are included. Smithton Park: De-culverting of the Smithton Burn beneath Smithton Park and replacemet with an open naturalised channel, incorporating rock armour step pools. Formation of a flood storage basin (approximate capacity — 12 000 m3) with associated embankments and flow control device incorporated into a reinforced concrete headwall structure. A new precast concrete box culvert under Murray Road is to be constructed whilst maintaining traffic flow. Enhancement of amenity provision within Smithon Park will be provided by means of 2 7-a-side football pitches, new path network and associated landscaping. Redburn Avenue: Replacement of a concrete pipe culvert (approximate diameter 1 m) with a new larger box culvert within private gardens. Associated reinstatement works include reinstatement of garden lawns, fencing, hedging and planting of new trees. Culloden Park: Formation of a flood storage basin (approximate capacity — 17 000 m3) with realigned open naturalised channel, incorporating embankments, vehicle access track (complete with bridge) and flow control headwall structure. Enhancement of ammenity provision within Culloden Park will be provided by means of a new full sized football pitch, new path network, footbridge and associated landscaping. A new wetland area will be created incorporating a timber walkway and dipping platform.
