Summary of the work Specialist technical knowledge in Rational Clearcase/ClearQuest tooling and industry best practice in software configuration build & release provision to migrate from Rational toolsets to open source toolsets. Automation of dependency management between NSL/VCL and OSL codebases and that deployables from the new configuration build & deployment system are fully functional. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 3 months with option to extend for a further 3 months Latest start date Monday 21 May 2018 Maximum Day Rate £700.00 per day inclusive of T&S Who Speclialist Work With Primarily with Configuration Build & Release team resources within IT Service Creation in DVLA, plus Application Support and Infrastructure Support groups within ASI in DVLA, and Quality Engineering resources in DVLA. What Specialists Work On Required to extract and migrate VOB project codebases from Clearcase repository (NSL/Legacy) to GIT repository (OSL), to familiarise with the associated Clearcase bespoke compile/build/dependency/deployment systems in order to provision an equivalent compile/build/dependency/deployment OSL capability consistent with standard DVLA OSL technologies (GIT, Jenkins, Nexus, Artifactory). Provide technical support to acceptance testing by operational support teams of migrated codebases deployed through the new deployment system. Provide knowledge-share of the migration process and provide handover of the new deployment system with permanent staff as appropriate. Use technical expertise in ClearQuest and SCM to provide guidance on an appropriate change/defect management process in Jira. Skills & Experience • Evidence of significant experience (minimum of 3 years) in the use of configuration management and software build tools in a complex environment. • Evidence of specialist technical expertise in the IBM Rational ClearCase toolset (minimum of 2 years). • Evidence of specialist technical expertise in the IBM Rational ClearQuest toolset (minimum of 2 years). • Evidence of detailed practical experience in PERL and shell script (minimum of 2 years). • Evidence of detailed practical experience in GIT or equivalent SCM tool (minimum of 2 years). • Evidence of detailed practical experience in Jenkins (minimum of 1 year) • Evidence of detailed practical experience in SonaType Nexus / Artifactory (minimum of 1 year) Nice to Haves • Evidence of knowledge and experience in Weblogic. • Evidence of experience of working with Unix and Linux environments. • Evidence of knowledge and experience in Apache Maven or equivalent. • Evidence of knowledge and experience of Atlassian Jira. Work Location DVLA RICHARD LEY DEVELOPMENT CENTRE, UPPER FFOREST WAY, SWANSEA VALE, SWANSEA, SA7 0AN Working Arrangments The nature of the work dictates the location. Standard working week/hours to be managed by the Supplier as they see appropriate. Security Clearance Must have current SC clearance that is valid for 12 months. Additional T&Cs We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision. As the assignment is for a period of 3 months, with the potential option to extend for 3 months, potential candidates are required to have SC clearance which is valid for 12 months.
