Tender description
DFID intend to extend the current contract for this programme by 1 year with effect from August 2019 with an additional budget of 6 800 000 GBP. Of the 6 800 000 GBP, 5 000 000 GBP will be being added directly to the current contracts challenge fund for distribution by the current supplier. The cost and time extension is critical to enable DFID Nepal to target addittional beneficiaries in regions that are currently unserved and underserved, to provide continuity to ongoing activities and to swiftly adapt and respond to the unique opportunities offered by federalism in Nepal. In July 2013 the Secretary of State approved the business case for the Access to Finance for the Poor programme to provide financial services to poor households, farmers and Small and medium enterprises (SME’s), particularly in the rural regions of Nepal. This business case was extended by Ministers in September 2017 up to October 2020. This call down contract was competitively awarded to LBG via DFIDs Wealth creation framework. The Contract terms of reference included the option to extend the Contract by 12 months, however, it was not specific on the associated value increase for the extension period. The cost and time extension of the current contract is required to align the the services provided under the current contract with the Business case addendum which has been approved by Ministers. The extension is critical to enable DFID Nepal to target unserved and underserved regions by providing continuity to ongoing activities, scaling up what has worked and responding to the unique opportunities offered by federalism in Nepal.
