Tender description

Hertfordshire County Council has undertaken a procurement for the Provision of Learning Opportunities Products and Interventions. This is an award notice and this tender opportunity is now closed. Please see Section V (Award of Contract) and Section IV.2.1 (Previous publication concerning this procedure) for further details. Provision of Health and Safety training to enable Health and Social Care providers to meet and exceed national minimum standards. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — First Aid and emergency life support, — Fire Safety and evacuation, — Risk Assessment, — Food Hygiene, healthy living and nutrition, — Infection prevention and control, — Management of hazardous materials, — Moving and Handling of people and loads, including load assessment. Provision of Clinical training to Health and Social Care staff enabling individuals to better understand and implement a wide range of skills and interventions. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Medication, administration and management, — Peg Feeding, — Epipen management, — Stoma Care, — Diabetes, — Pressure Sores / Ulcers, — Oral Cavity Suctioning, — Sexually Transmitted Disease. Provision of learning opportunities, products and interventions that focus on working with and supporting people with a Learning Disability. Training should be focused on raising awareness and understanding of conditions, improving service delivery and direct care and enabling health and social care staff to support people with Learning Disabilities more effectively. Potential training courses are all subjects outlined in the “Learning Disabilities Core Skills Education and Training Framework” (see Appendix B) Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Learning Disability Awareness, — Supporting People with Profound and Complex Needs, — Supporting People with a learning disability and Autism, — Wellbeing and Independence, — End of Life care and support for people with a Learning Disability. Learning opportunities, products and interventions that are focused on working and supporting clients experiencing mental ill health. Potential courses should seek to raise understanding and awareness of conditions, outlines suitable treatment and support and enable health and social care staff to recognise signs and symptoms. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Mental Health Awareness, — Personality Disorders, — Schizophrenia and psychosis, — Bipolar and Depression. Provision of specialist Dementia focused training that examines a breadth of key themes including diagnosis, communication, anatomy and physiology of the brain, identification and management of symptoms and understanding and relating to clients with Dementia. All training will enable Health and social care staff to provide better care and support to individuals with Dementia. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Understanding Dementia, — Communication Skills, — Supporting a service user with Dementia and behaviours of concern, — Early Onset Dementia, — Alzheimer’s, — End of life care and support. Provision of training to Health and Social Care providers to support the management of behaviours of concern. Modular programme would include proactive approaches in theoretical knowledge, physical skills in disengagement and physical intervention. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — understanding behaviours of concern theory, — physical skills including disengagement techniques and Physical Intervention, including refresher courses, — positive behaviour support / active support, — conflict resolution, — personal safety. Provision of Safeguarding Training to Health and Social Care providers that is in line and reflective of Hertfordshire Safeguarding policy. Training should examine key definitions, signs and symptoms of abuse and referral pathways. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — safeguarding awareness, — safeguarding refresher, — Protecting People at Risk of Harm, — Mental Capacity Act, — Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards. Provision of training focusing on developing and improving the skills and abilities of individuals in leadership and management roles or who have delegated responsibilities within social care organisations / services. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Generic Management Skills training, — Introduction to Management, — Supervising Staff, — Managing Change, — Understanding key Management responsibilities concerning, — Health and Safety, — Equality and Diversity, — Risk Assessment, — Moving and Handling, — Administration of Medication, — Safeguarding. Learning opportunities, products and interventions focused on understanding neurological conditions and how to care for individuals affected. Training courses should focus on areas such as signs and symptoms of the condition, management and treatment of symptoms and diagnosis and referral. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — epilepsy (and the administration of Rectal Diazepam and Buccal Midazolam), — Parkinson’s, — Huntington’s Disease, — Multiple Sclerosis, — Motor Neurone Disease, — Acquired Brain Injury Please note Dementia Training has been classified as a separate Lot (Lot 5). Provision of training to Health and Social care providers that examines physiological conditions and how to care and support individuals affected. Training should focus on areas such as signs and symptoms of the condition, ongoing management and treatment of symptoms and diagnosis and referral. Examples of potential training topics include, but are not limited to: — Stroke, — Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, — Dysphagia, — Mindfulness and physical wellbeing. Provision of Qualifications to support a 12 month Level 1 Health and Social Care Trainee Programme aimed at 16-24 year olds not currently in education, employment or training. Qualifications include: — BTEC Level 1 Award in Preparing to work in adult Social Care (QCF), — BTEC Level 1 Certificate in Health and Social Care (QCF), — Functional Skills in English and Maths (Entry Level 3/1).
