The 0-12 ETCS project involves the introduction of new technology onto the operational railway with a safety critical application associated with the works, as well as the creation of new operating rules. As a result, the works being completed for the ETCS trackside subsystem are considered significant and therefore require specific safety assurance resource to achieve the increased requirements the system must adhere to before being placed into operational service.
