Tender to re-line the ornamental pond in the Botanic Gardens in Victoria Park, Bath

Tender description

The ornamental pond and cascade in the Royal Victoria Park is the centre piece of the Park’s Botanic Gardens and a much loved and important feature of this historic Park. The pond is approximately 377m2 (approximately 55m long x 5-10 wide x 0.8m in depth), is fed by a butyl and concrete lined cascade (10m x 0.5-1.5m) and is surrounded by a landscaped herbaceous border with some small trees. Besides its popular public appeal, the pond and adjacent Temple of Minerva are an important and attractive setting for exclusive weddings and events. Since the loss of a permanent fresh water supply to the Botanic Garden ponds around a decade ago, the cascade which runs into and helps aerate the pond, and the pond itself, have both been found to be leaking. The council is now seeking tenders to re-line the entire ornamental pond and the cascade with a high quality, flexible EDPM liner. The liner should be of high quality EDPM and have a minimum life expectancy of 10 years. This tender does not specify a product manufacturer, but the liner product used should, as a minimum, be equivalent to Firestone's PondGard 1.02mm rubber or GeoGard (1.15mm or 1.5mm).
