NHS Wales intends to procure a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) as part of the modernisation of pathology services across Wales. A supplier day is being organised to explore the benefits of a single LIMS or best of breed solution per pathology discipline for blood sciences, blood transfusion, cellular pathology and microbiology. The scope of these services include: — Andrology, — Blood sciences - Antenatal screening, clinical biochemistry, haematology, immunology, newborn spot screening and toxicology, — Blood transfusion – end-to-end services including blood tracking and the Welsh Transplantation and Immunogenetics Laboratory (WTAIL) service comprising histopathology compatibility, immunogenetics and donor registry, — Cellular pathology - Diagnostic cytology, gynaecological cytology, histopathology and mortuary, — Microbiology - Bacteriology, food, water & environmental microbiology, infection genomics, molecular microbiology, mycology, parasitology, serology and virology.
