O'Brien's Bridge Repair Works, Lahinch

O'Brien's Bridge is a three span masonry arch structure running in an east-west direction across the Inagh River approximate;y 1.5km west of Lahinch. The works shall consist of the scope of works shown on the drawings and specifications, including but not limited to the following: • Provide, maintain and dismantle safe access to the works; • Provide, maintain and dismantle site boundary fencing for the duration of the works; • Installation of water management; • Dealing with existing services; • Clearing the site of all vegetation and loose material where necessary to facilitate the works; • Cleaning the stone masonry following vegetation clearance; • Disposal off site of waste materials generated on site; • Repointing to existing masonry walls throughout the structure; • Concrete encasement of pier 1 at the downstream end; • Masonry repair as required throughout the structure; • Masonry repair as required throughout the structure; • Installation of rubbing strips and surfacing soft verges; • Installation of riprap to scoured riverbed within and around spans 1 and 2; • PSCS role for the duration of the works. Note that the river is tidal at this point and the depth and flow rate of this watercourse can vary greatly depending on current tidal cycles and weather conditions. The contractor will be required to implement full traffic management for undertaking the works, under no circumstances will a full road closure be permitted at any stage during the works.
