Janet SMS Service

Tender description

In response to the requirements of the Janet community, JSL procured a Short Messaging Service, Janet txt, in April 2007. The service was re-procured in 2010 and 2014 for respective 4 year terms. The current framework agreement is due to expire in April 2018. This will be a Jisc branded service, but fully managed by the supplier. The supplier will be responsible for providing, operating, and maintaining the hardware and software upon which the service operates. The purpose of the service is to enable operators at each user organisation to manipulate text messages and send them to designated users. The service must provide the ability for authorised administrators at each organisation to manage the creation and deletion of operator accounts. The service will be available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Support to user organisations will be provided by the supplier for all issues relating to the service. JSL is seeking to establish a single supplier framework to continue to provide an SMS service for the Jisc community for a period of four years starting in May 2018 subject to mutual agreement. It is estimated that sales for the next 4 years will be between £1.2m and £2m, based on current figures. The service is intended for organisational use, whereby individual contracts will be established between the nominated supplier and user organisations. Contracts placed by members of the Jisc community will continue to be supported beyond the framework expiry – until their contracted end date. Keywords: text, janet, txt
