Tender description

The Trust is intending to tender for the provision of Fire and Rescue services for its elevated H2 Helipad Site at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne - UK. The Supplier will be required to provide services to enable the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (the Employer) meet its obligations in line with Health Building Note 15-03 “Health Building Note 15-03: Hospital Helipads” and guidance in Civil Aviation Publication 1264. The elevated helipad provides a H2 service for the Great North Air Ambulance which operates 2 aircrafts based at Teesside and Penrith. The helipad is also utilised by UK Search and Rescue, Augusta Westland 189, the National Police Air Service, EC 135, other Air Ambulance providers and various Military aircraft. To ensure the Air Ambulance can land at the helipad with a casualty, the helipad must be in operation for the hours the air ambulance with be operational. These hours are between 8:00 and 20:00, 365/366 days per year, including bank holidays. The helipad should be staffed with a minimum of 2 trained fire-fighters and 1 crew supervisor.
