Tender description

This tender is for the delivery, maintenance, and support of a Course Administration System, which will enable UCL to effectively market, run, and administer short courses. People booking onto courses, could be existing UCL students, private individuals (members of the public), and third parties (e.g. a company booking multiple delegates onto a course.) UCL is seeking a Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution. Both Software-as-a-service (SAAS) and on premise solutions will be considered. UCL require a Course administration system (CAS) to manage short courses and market them via the UCL www.ucl.ac.uk website. (a) A solution through which site administrators can efficiently manage and curate UCL’s short courses. Department/ faculty administrators should easily and efficiently be able to manage courses offered by their department/ faculty, all within role-based permission. The solution should enable reporting appropriate to the user level and utilize templates and workflows. (b) From a learner perspective, the experience should reflect the UCL’s strong reputation and offer a high-quality user experience. (c) The solution must take payment using UCL’s existing payment gateway – WPM. (d) For courses which include an online element, the solution will need to integrate with UCL’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE – UCLeXtend). UCL currently markets these course through the Life Learning part of the UCL website, and through departmental pages. UCL is seeking a Commercial off-the-Shelf (COTS) solution. Both Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and on premise solutions will be considered. UCL intends to implement the solution and deliver in at least two phases. First phase is a small-scale deployment (e.g. limited to one department/ faculty), in order to prove the concept. Wider implementation may take a Big Bang or rolling deployment approach – This is dependent on the success of the initial deployment. UCL intends to appoint a single supplier for this solution.
