Tender description
The Thames Sailing Barge Trust owns the wooden Thames spritsail barge ‘Pudge’, built in 1922. LOD 82.36 feet (25.12 metres) Beam 20.98 feet (6.40 metres). Depth of Side 6.79 feet (2.07 metres). Description of works to be carried out by suitably qualified and experienced Shipwrights (a detailed specification will be supplied to companies invited to tender): Dry dock the vessel and fit weatherproof cover. Replacement of decks and coamings and part of the inwale. Replacement of ceilings and repairs to floors. Refitting of upgraded passenger accommodation and services. It is a requirement of the Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) that the restoration work is carried out on the Blackwater Estuary and to be accessible for public viewing. These activities will include passing on traditional skills by involving apprentices who seek to gain experience in maritime heritage restoration.
