UCLH-1324 - Specialist Cardiology Services

Tender description

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) specialist cardiology service were transferred to Barts Health NHS Trust (BHT) in May 2015 under one site called the new Heart Centre. UCLH continues to see significant numbers of patients with cardiac problems either as: a primary diagnosis, a feature of other diseases or as a concurrent condition to the one for which they were admitted. Therefore cardiac services still need to be provided across the Trust. These patients tend,because of UCLH’s specialist services, to have a range of higher and more complex cardiology needs than would generally be encountered in a local hospital. The provider must also be capable of providing fixed specialist interventional services that is unable to be provided within the Trusts sites. There remains a need to provide and develop the cardiology support infrastructure for specialist services at UCLH as well as to provide a robust local hospital cardiology service. Keywords: NHS
