Deep Energy Retro-Fitting of Traditional Buildings

The Heritage Council, in conjunction with ICOMOS Ireland’s the National Scientific Committee on Energy, Sustainability and Climate Change, is seeking a researcher to investigate the state of knowledge of Deep Energy Renovation of traditional building in Ireland. The research is being part-funded by a grant from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, under the ‘Energy Research, Development and Demonstration Programme 2017’. The research project is part of a larger objective to begin formulating a viable approach to the deep retrofitting of traditional buildings by creating co-operative cross-institutional arrangements between the relevant State Departments, statutory bodies, the building sector and NGOs to further address the identified knowledge gaps, fiscal incentives and the provision of correct technical advice appropriate for the historic built environment of Ireland. Researching the state of knowledge is an essential first step.
