Supporting the delivery of projects for pedestrians. Both infrastruture and behaviour change. Supporting initiatives to engage with businesses, workers, residents, visitors and other stakeholders on walking and safety issues. Providing advice on policy and design of walking related projects. 74% of trips in the City are made on foot, and over 50% of KSI injuries occur to pedestrians. This contract therefore seeks to work with an organisation to understand the needs of our pedestrian community, both from a comfort and safety perspective. Then to engage with the people walking in the City directly, through their employers and with other stakeholders. The objective is to employ a well respected organisation to provide comment and support for projects that improve and support for the City's largest population by mode, pedestrians. The outputs / outcomes will be: 1. The improvement of walking related projects through the provision of advice and comments. 2. Improving the underdtanding of walking issues through the Provision of effective data Collection services, to informing City objectives - surveys, counts and exisiting infrastruture suitability 3. Extending the reach of walking related campaigns and activities through effective public engagement support. For example, engagement through talking to pedestrians on street, social media and through businesses and other stakeholders 4. Increasing walking by City employees, residents, students and visitors. Increase the understanding of the strategies to reduce exposure to road danger. 5. Supporting the delivery of more effective projects through, planning and monitoring. Monitoring delivered projects to understand and capture benefits and lessons. Feedback to officers to improve delivery of future projects. Support City officers in planning the annual delivery of walking projects, and monitor the delivery of the contract.
