Tender description

The University Hospitals of Leicester are seeking to contract with a third party supplier or suppliers, for the provision of repairs and/or refurbishment of surgical instruments utilised by the Trust. The Trust currently employs a third party supplier for the decontamination of its surgical instruments. The supplier will be required to collect and deliver surgical instrument(s) from and to the third party's premises, based in Leicestershire, as part of the provision of the service. Due to the separate Lots, this contract will be set-up as a framework. Standard surgical instrument repairs. This Lot contains such items as scissors, needle-holders, grasping forceps and similar surgical instruments. The required repair standard is that of an instrument being made safe and fit for its intended purpose and accepted by the customer and Contract Manager after inspection. Laparoscopic Instruments and Endoscope repairs. The required repair standard is that of an instrument being made safe and fit for its intended purpose. This will be subject to inspection by the customer and Contract Manager. Repair of Specialist Surgical Equipment. This Lot contains items such as Micro Instruments, Diamond Knives, Vessel Dilators and similar specialist equipment. The required repair standard is that of an instrument being made safe and fit for its intended purpose as deemed by the customer and Contract Manager after inspection. Repairs for Specialist Surgical Equipment will be variable and the supplier is requested to offer different pricing based on the level of repair being offered as detailed in the Offer Schedule. Repair of Power Tools. The required repair standard is that of the power tool being made safe and fit for its intended purpose as deemed by the customer and Contract Manager after inspection. Repairs of Power Tools will be variable and the supplier is requested provide a list of tools they are able to repair and proposed pricing in the Offer Schedule. The Trust requires a supplier to offer a surgical instrument tray refurbishment service to prolong the life of its instrumentation and reduce the requirement for instrument repairs. Example tray lists with details of typical instrumentation will be provided in the alongside the Service Specification. It is requested that the supplier provide a proposed refurbishment process, schedule and pricing, within the Offer Schedule.
