Tender description

Wiltshire Council has a statutory duty under Section 149 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to temporarily kennel stray dogs for 7 clear days following service of notice on the identified owner. Thereafter ownership of the animal legally reverts to the provider who may re-home the dog. This requirement to kennel stray dogs forms Lot 1 of this tender. At present some vets will take in a stray dog out of hours, but are under no obligation to do so. The Council would like to formalise this arrangement with a range of establishments and in return pay a daily rate for the dog’s care. This requirement to hold a stray dog pending collection by the council’s Animal Health Officers forms Lot 2 of this tender.
