Tender description

The Authorities wishes to award a contract for Weather Forecasting and a separate contract for Bureau Services across North Yorkshire. Further information is contained within specification on our e-tendering portal, YORtender. The weather forecasting contract will cover the following activities: — The provision of weather forecast information for the 12 climatic domains within North Yorkshire and the City of York, to include a 36 hour forecast; 6-10 day forecast and 24 hour advisory service, — Winter weather forecast information between 1 October and 30 April, — Summer weather forecast information between 1 May and 30 September, — Weather training (as required). This service is estimated to start 2.7.2018. The contract will be for an initial period of 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2-2 year periods. Therefore the total possible duration for this Contract is 7 years (i.e. 3 + 2 + 2). The weather station bureau service contract will cover these activities: — The collection of weather data from 27 Vaisala brand ice prediction stations, — Access provision for users of this information via the internet with a 24/ 7 helpdesk, — The maintenance and calibration of 15 Vaisala brand ice stations owned by the Council and 2 Vaisala brand ice stations owned by City of York Council, — Highway thermal mapping vehicle-based surveys (as required), — Upgrade of ice prediction stations (as necessary) including installation of cameras. This service is estimated to start 2.7.2018. The contract will be for an initial period of 3 years with an option to extend for a further 2-2 year periods. Therefore the total possible duration for this Contract is 7 years (i.e. 3 + 2 + 2).
