Killala, Foxford and Charlestown Sewerage Schemes – Wastewater Treatment Plants and Collection Networks – Design, Build & Operate (DBO) Contract

Irish Water proposes to construct new Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) at Killala and Foxford and undertake upgrade works on the Charlestown WWTP and collection networks (including pumping stations) as follows: Foxford • A new WWTP (c. 3,500PE) on a greenfield site; • Upgrade works on the existing collection network including installation of new gravity sewers and rehabilitation of existing sewers; • Installation of a new treated effluent outfall to the River Moy; • Construction of 1 no. new pumping station and upgrade works at 3 no. pumping stations; • Construction of new rising mains. Charlestown • Upgrading the existing WwTP in Charlestown to c.2,700PE on the existing site; • Upgrade works on the existing collection network including installation of new gravity sewers and rehabilitation of existing sewers; • Installation of a new treated effluent outfall to the Mullaghanoe River; Killala • A new WWTP (c. 1,700PE) on a greenfield site; • Upgrade works on the existing collection network including installation of new gravity sewers and rehabilitation of existing sewers; • Construction of 1 no. new pumping station and stormwater tank and upgrade works at an existing pumping station; • Construction of new rising mains and watermains The Contract will include for operation and maintenance of the existing Charlestown WWTP during the design-build period and will also include for operation and maintenance of some elements of the completed works (primarily the WWTPs) for a two year period after completion of the design-build works.
