Tender description

The aim of the Assistive Technology Service is to ensure the residents of North Yorkshire are provided with a high quality, mainstreamed, innovative service that uses technology to monitor and support. The Telecare service is part of a wider transformational change within the Council. Our new social care model of support places more emphasis on helping people to use and access the support available to them within their own networks. This ‘strength based approach’ also encourages people to think about ways that they can retain control over their own lives and make choices for themselves. The Care Act has given us a statutory duty of prevention. The changing demographics in North Yorkshire means that there could be a considerable strain on health and social care services as well as a reduction in the number of people available to work with, or care for our changing population if things are not transformed. The Council believes that there are opportunities to grow the number of people using Assistive Technology through self-referral and working with the private care market. The majority of people in North Yorkshire fund their own care.
