Bassetlaw District Council have invested significant resources in to the development and management of its town park in Worksop. The park, covers an area of 4.8 hectares is known by two names and has two distinct parts. The park is divided by a watercourse and the area to the north is known as ‘The Canch’ which was provided for public recreational use in 1912. The area to the south originally named ‘Memorial Avenue Gardens’ was laid out in a more traditional formal parkland at a later date to form an extension to ‘The Canch’ park. The park initially received Green Flag Status in 2014 however, in the recent Green Flag inspection, it was identified that if further improvements are proposed for the park a new Masterplan and Management Plan need to be development and ensure these improvements are incorporated within it.
