Tender description

Public Health England, also known as 'The Authority', wish to purchase a hyper-pure germanium detector and two cooler units. A second detector along with two shielded enclosures are already in the possession of the laboratory. The detector to be purchased will be optimised for measurements of low-energy gamma-ray emitting radionuclides and for small samples; existing detectors are primarily used for measurements of high-energy gamma emitting radionuclides and very large sample volumes. The detector to be purchased along with the one already owned need to be cooled to very low temperatures in order to operate and so it will also be necessary to purchase specialist detector cooler units.
