Summary of the work To help establish user research that results in clear guidance and support for the development teams to implement usable systems for internal and external users. Specialist role User researcher Expected Contract Length 20 days up to an additional 20 days Latest start date Friday 23 March 2018 Maximum Day Rate Up to £500 Who Speclialist Work With You will be co-located with multi-disciplinary agile teams managing an existing platform and the introduction of a new recruitment platform. What Specialists Work On Research and analysis of candidate expectations, experience and perceptions of online psychometric tests. Research and analysis of what vacancy holders need from online psychometric tests in terms of commissioning tests; understanding and integrating results into candidate selection decisions; use cases. Skills & Experience • Demonstrable knowledge, experience in and passion for user-centred design practices for web, service or software development • Proven experience of understanding user needs for web content, tools and transactional services, especially those with the most complex user journeys, including assisted digital and users with complex accessibility requirements • Proven experience of designing, facilitating and analysing a wide range of qualitative and quantitative user research methods • Strong understanding of strengths and limitations of different research methods. Proven experience of presenting user research findings in a wide variety of formats and contexts • Proven experience of working in an agile development environment with designers and developers and product managers to create new digital products and services • Experience of validating and where necessary updating user needs and user stories that feed into prototype development and influence product direction Nice to Haves • Experience of planning, designing and conducting usability testing of prototypes • Demonstrable experience of planning, organising and conducting research within UK Government • Knowledge of how complex applications can comply with W3C WAI standards, experience of evaluating compliance and research with users with access needs Work Location Based in Bristol with occasional travel to headquarters in central London. Travel to other locations is not expected, but flexibility is essential. Working Arrangments Working around a planned schedule, but with flexibility to influence work dates. T&S not payable at the Bristol office, & travel outside will be subject to Cabinet Office T&S policy Security Clearance A minimum of BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) will be required to commence work.
