Tender description
Network Rail Telecommunications (NRT) operates the UK Rail Telecoms systems owned by Network Rail. Multi-billion pound investments have seen the deployment of what is now the second largest private telecommunications network in the UK. The systems provide fixed and radio (track to train) telecommunications used for the safe and efficient use of the rail network. A further 1 000 000 000 GBP is earmarked for telecommunications investment from 2019 to 2024, with an emphasis on improving the IP capabilities of today’s largely SDH network. To support the continued investment in rail telecommunications NRT is seeking suppliers who can provide the required equipment along with services related to that equipment, covering the whole life cycle from design, through installation and commissioning to maintenance and support. Network Rail intends to create a framework contract under which to let contracts as required for the specific procurement of the aforementioned goods and services. Network Rail Telecommunications operates the UK Rail Telecommunications systems owned by Network Rail. Multi-billion pound investments have seen the deployment of what is now the second largest private telecommunications network in the UK. The systems provide fixed and radio (track to train) telecommunications systems used for the safe and efficient use of the operational rail network. A further 1 000 000 000 GBP is earmarked for telecommunications investment in control period 6, from 2019 to 2024, with an emphasis on improving the IP capabilities of what is a predominantly SDH network today. Network Rail is currently establishing frameworks under which to let telecommunications contracts. Each framework will contain a number of Suppliers who will be pre-qualified and eligible to bid for the contracts. Network Rail wishes to identify telecommunications equipment vendors or suppliers that can offer related services to assist the adoption and design of telecommunications equipment and its subsequent installation and configuration, from both within and outside the rail industry, who have the potential to be a framework supplier. The purpose of this notice is to inform industry of the forthcoming procurement event and to initiate a dialogue to allow network rail to refine its Lotting strategy prior to the commencement of the procurement event. Additional information about the proposed framework is available by contacting Alex.Scott@networkrail.co.uk Contained along with the additional information are a number of questions where network rail is seeking the views of industry to inform its refinement of the Lotting strategy. Responses to the questions are voluntary and a supplier’s eligibility to bid for inclusion on the framework is not conditional on responding. Nonetheless, good quality responses to these questions will assist in finalising the Lotting strategy. If you are interested in this opportunity please email Alex.Scott@networkrail.co.uk with details of your company including contact details and a brief outline of your capabilities and the equipment lines and manufacturers that you supply, indicating whether you perceive yourself as an OEM or as a partner of an OEM or both. In providing the brief outline, marketing or company information material in pdf form is acceptable. The email address above is also where responses to the voluntary questions should be sent. Please ensure that all responses to the questions are submitted by Friday 27.4.2018.
