Tender description
Sheffield Hallam University are tendering for 2-3 Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-TMS) instruments, from a single supplier / manufacturer. The Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-TMS) instruments will be used by a large number of students and researchers in various fields of research including: synthetic chemistry, microbiology, biochemistry, pharmacokinetics, forensic toxicology and analytical science. The Specification is in Part 2 of the Invitation to Tender (ITT). Whilst we seek a standardised essential / basic system specification across the instruments, additional desirable functionality is laid out in the specification of requirement. It desirable that as much of this additional functionality could be included in one or more of the instruments. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) are included within the scope of this tender and at least one HPLC must be included in the initial purchase. The equipment is primarily to be used by the Department of Biosciences and Chemistry and by the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre (BMRC), within the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. The University intends to buy 2 units before the autumn of 2018 and will review the option to purchase a further unit during the academic year 2019/20. The pricing for the initial units purchased following the contract award should therefore extend to allow the third unit to be acquired at the prices submitted as part of this tender. As the use of spectrometry and our research evolves, we intend that the lifecycle of the units evolves too. To this end we will be actively seeking solutions which help extend the longevity of the units being offered. The university prides itself on its ability to keep abreast of technological developments and we seek a supplier who can maintain this profile with the solutions it offers. We therefore reserve the right to increase the capability and functionality of some or all the instruments purchased at a later date subject to the tenders put forward. The University requires a warranty, delivery to site and on site installation, commissioning and acceptance testing. The supplier needs to be able to maintain and demonstrate the ability to maintain the future operation of the system and the maintenance schedule and cost of ownership must be sufficiently robust. The University requires a service and maintenance contract for the duration of the manufacturer's warranty and to not invalidate the manufacturer's terms and conditions of warranty. The University reserves the right to take out or not take out an extended service / maintenance contract with the initial purchase, or following this, subject to the tenders put forward. Training and technical support is required within the scope of the tender to assist and embed the use of the equipment. It would be beneficial for some of the training content to reflect our role as an education provider teaching and researcher.
