Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) Housing First Programme - Market Engagement Event

The Government has chosen the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) as one of three areas across the country to deliver a Housing First pilot as part of a wider £28 million programme announced in last year’s budget. There is an international evidence base that a Housing First approach can be successful in engaging with people with the most complex needs and support them to successfully sustain accommodation when other approaches have previously failed. This presents the 10 local authorities in Greater Manchester and their partners with an opportunity to illustrate how Housing First can be delivered on a larger scale and create a fresh approach to preventing homelessness and supporting some of our most vulnerable citizens. Greater Manchester Combined Authority invites organisation’s with an interest in contributing to the Housing First programme to a market engagement event on the morning of 10 May 2018. Further details on precise timings and venue will be shared closer to the day. The purpose of this event is to stimulate discussions with a range of stakeholders and explore with them some of the potential options that could help us develop an effective Housing First programme across the 10 local authority areas of Greater Manchester. The event will also provide us with an opportunity to outline the 7 key principles as defined by Housing First England that we will want to see the future programme uphold. We are envisaging that this event will attract a range of organisations including property providers and agencies with a specialist background in supporting people with complex needs.
