Tender description

Purchase of a low ground pressure all terrain vehicle. NRW is seeking to award a contract for the supply of 1 x multi-functional low ground pressure all-terrain vehicle which can carry and power a range of implements required for the restoration of sensitive wet peatland sites with a significant (> 5 m and up to 10 m) depth of saturated soft peat. The machine will undertake work as part of the prestigious New LIFE for Welsh Raised Bogs Project funded by the European Union LIFE instrument to restore the EU priority habitat Active Raised Bog on Special Area of Conservation (SAC) sites in Wales. The main use of the machine will be in cutting and collecting vegetation from degraded bog surfaces. This is needed to remove or reduce the abundance of problematic herbaceous and low woody species, and as a pre-treatment for follow on groundworks aimed at restoring the hydrology of the sites by creating impermeable barriers to drainage. The machine will also be used to tow/power a range of powered and passive implements and to transport bulky materials on and off sites. The purpose of this contract is for Natural Resources Wales to purchase a single multi-functional low ground pressure all-terrain vehicle which can carry and power a range of implements required for the restoration of sensitive wet peatland sites with a very significant (> 5 m) depth of saturated peat: procurement of the majority of these implements also forms part of this contract.
