NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group (RCCG) in collaboration with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) wish to engage with the market for Integrated Community Equipment and Wheelchair Services. The commissioning collaborative will be undertaking a market engagement event / exercise for the purpose of finalising the service specification, assessing market capacity and informing the procurement strategy. The Commissioners are looking to secure Community Equipment and Integrated Wheelchair services for our population (in the region of 260 000). New services will commence from 1.11.2018. The procurement will be a single lot, combining the Community Equipment and Wheelchair Services. The Community Equipment Service: The primary aim of the service is the loan of equipment, categorised as health and social equipment, including “daily living aids”, to promote independence for service users who have been assessed by relevant health and/or social care practitioners. This includes urgent requests that require a response within 48 hours. The service will therefore support health and social care needs, helping to alleviate risk and promote independence. It is required to provide a service for children and adults with physical and/or learning disabilities, short term or long term conditions or mental health problems, along with older frail people. The service will provide equipment to assist with home care or to assist with a programme of rehabilitation or to assist with independent living of people within the community. Therefore the broad range of community equipment services to be covered by the service includes, for example, short and long term loan of equipment for daily living, such as shower chairs and stools, bath lifts and raised toilet seats, home nursing equipment such as pressure relief mattresses and commodes and special equipment. The equipment service will have procedures in place to enable the urgent delivery of equipment when needed and will provide all necessary repair and routine / emergency maintenance. Wheelchair Assessment and Provision: The primary aim of the wheelchair service is to meet the needs of service users with restricted mobility, through timely, high quality specialist assessment of needs, and the prescribing and provision of appropriate wheelchairs (including specialist), seating systems, and associated equipment, including any necessary repair and routine maintenance. It is anticipated the wheelchair service will operate a voucher scheme. Details of the event: The market engagement event will comprise of an overview presentation and interactive sessions to better understand the views of the market. Organisations will be able to discuss and share their experiences of the services, best practice and scope for innovation. Commissioners would value the views of potential providers at this stage to help shape the future approach to ensure that Community Equipment and Wheelchair services meet the requirements and needs of service users and referrers. The event will take place on 19.3.2018 from 14:30 — 16:30 at NHS Rotherham Clinical Commissioning Group, Oak House, Moorhead Way, Rotherham, S66 1YY. To register please complete and return the registration form in the attachment area on the NHS Sourcing Portal (www.nhssourcing.co.uk), which can be found by searching for pqq_29424 after registering. For the avoidance of doubt, thisis for those interested in attending an early market engagement event and not a PQQ exercise. Attendance will be limited to 2 delegates per organisation. The deadline for registration is 16.00 on 16.3.2018.
