London Borough of Sutton Smart Place Air Quality Challenge

Sutton’s Smart Place project aims to find innovative solutions to challenges in the London Borough of Sutton. The project is part of delivering our Digital Strategy (Appendix A), and is working across the borough to engage with service managers, residents, the voluntary sector and the market to understand the local challenges and where smart solutions could help improve outcomes for residents. One of these challenges is air quality. While the borough has a good track record in managing air quality levels, and the situation is much better than in other London boroughs, the council strives to ensure the best outcomes for its residents and therefore has identified that further action could be taken. This is also part of the council’s One Planet Sutton sustainability initiative. This project is looking for an innovative solution to our air quality challenge. We are looking for the market to respond to this challenge with innovative ways that we can help people in the borough understand the impact their actions have on air quality, and encourage a demonstrable change in behaviour. We are open to how or where in the borough the project would be run - we are looking for ambitious ideas that can make a positive difference.
