Tender description

Sheffield Hallam University are tendering for an Industry 4.0 demonstrator for the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences (ACES). This equipment / system will be a new technology to the University. It is our desire to be at the forefront of industry 4.0 technological developments. The equipment will raise awareness of the latest digital developments within manufacturing. It will introduce students to the new automation and manufacturing concepts and technologies of Industry 4.0. We require a system that will simulate the features of future production of the future.The equipment should Demonstrate Industry 4.0 concepts / technology via suitable mechanisms that simulate factory processes. The equipment / system should Demonstrate Industry 4.0 concepts/technology via suitable mechanisms that simulate factory processes such as fabrication, assembly, testing / inspection, packaging and storage, and distribution / supply chain management. 5 or more processes / stations should make up the system via and appropriate concept / mechanism. The system should have sufficient flexibility for extensions / enlargement in the future. As the application of Industry 4.0 evolves, especially in the educational sector, the University intends that the lifecycle of the system evolves and this may entail system adaptions or enlargement to extend the longevity and relevance of the system to teaching and educational needs.The university prides itself on its ability to keep abreast of technological developments and we seek a supplier who can maintain this profile with the solutions it offers. The University requires a warranty, delivery to site and on site installation, commissioning and acceptance testing. The supplier needs to be able to maintain and demonstrate the ability to maintain the future operation of the system. The University requires a service and maintenance contract for the duration of the manufacturer's warranty and to not invalidate the manufacturer's terms and conditions of warranty. The University reserves the right to take out or not take out an extended service / maintenance contract with the initial purchase, or following this, subject to the tenders put forward. Training and technical support is required within the scope of the tender to assist and embed the use of the equipment / system. It would be beneficial for some of the training content to reflect our role as an education provider teaching Industry 4.0.
