Tender description

The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), an executive Agency of Defra, requires the collection of dead wild birds that are deemed to be of surveillance value and delivery of the carcases to designated sites for testing. APHA also requires the provision of unique carcase/sample identification numbers which will be held on a Central Spreadsheet (provided by APHA to the Contractor). The Authority requires the collection of dead wild birds that are deemed to be of surveillance value and delivery of the carcases to designated sites for testing. The Authority also requires the provision of unique carcase / sample identification numbers which will be held on a Central Spreadsheet (provided by the Authority to the Contractor). The Contractor will be required to have a network of personnel to act as Collectors across England, Scotland and Wales to ensure maximum efficiency in the Contractor’s ability to collect wild bird carcases upon request from the Authority. Please note there is an option to extend the contract period for up to thirty-six (36) months after the initial twelve (12) month period if required. Note that the estimated contract value in Sections II.1.5 and II.2.6 is the estimated value for both the initial contract period and the extension period (the full forty-eight (48) months). (Note that the Authority is not committed to extend the contract after the initial twelve (12) months).
