Tender description

The National Tide Gauge Network (NTGN) is part of the UK Coastal Flood Forecasting Service (UKCFF). UKCFF enables the Environment Agency and partners to issue flood warnings, based upon information from numerical tide-surge models and from the NTGN gauges. The NTGN consists of 43 real time telemetered sites around the coast of the UK. The primary instrument at each site is a bubbler gauge. A bubbler gauge measures the tide levels by measuring the air pressure required to maintain a constant flow of air through an inverted bucket that is submerged at a known depth. The bubbler gauge feeds into a ‘digiquartz S500’ telemetry outstation that interprets the data and sends to the Environment Agency telemetry system. The purpose of this contract is the provision of quality assurance and data archiving of the data collected by the NTGN.
