Summary of the work Documenting As Is, Target and Transition architectures Defining technical standards and non-Functional requirements Assuring alignment of solution designs in the TDA Ensuring key architectural strategies and reference architectures are published and visible Specialist role Technical Architect Expected Contract Length 12 months Latest start date 10/4/2017 Who Speclialist Work With Be part of the Technical Design Authority What Specialists Work On 1. Maintain high level holistic vision of enterprise solutions and development initiatives 2. Define and communicate strategic themes that drive the architecture to stakeholders (technical and non-technical) 3. Define and synchronise NFRs across solutions where applicable 4. Lead technical discoveries for key building blocks of HMPO's target architecture 5. Design technical services or plan system integration, selecting necessary platforms and technologies to meet user needs 6. Technical leadership to development teams, ensuring designs align with technical strategy 7. build and maintain technical roadmaps, looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers 8. Collaborate across teams to identify strategic requirements and dependencies Skills & Experience • Have in depth experience of designing architectures for mission critical public services • Have in depth experience of cloud architectures and best practices • Understanding of agile environments, continual delivery techniques and dev-ops cultures • Understanding of how to influence senior management and communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences • In depth experience of defining NFRs • Experience of Microservice architectures • Experience of applying scaled agile techniques • Experience of Open Source • Experience of defining architectures for Applications, Data and Technology domains Work Location London, Westminster Working Arrangments Mainly on-site Security Clearance SC No. of Specialists to Evaluate 10 Cultural Fit Criteria • Work as a team with our organisation and other suppliers • Be transparent and collaborative when making decisions • Take responsibility for their work • Have a delivery focus Evaluation Weighting Technical competence 50% Cultural fit 20% Price 30% Questions from Suppliers 1. Maximum day rate Has not been set 4. SC Status essential Strong preference for SC clearance but will wait for right candidate if need be 5. Tech stack, types of solutions in the architecture Legacy system is predominantly Oracle and Tibco. Target state is based on Open Source (e.g Java, NodeJS, Postrgress, Activiti Workflow) reusing shared services across HO and wider Government which are mix of Open Source and COTS 6.
