Tender description

The works involve the preliminary mining ground investigation for the proposed scheme which comprises the construction of approximately 2.3km of dual carriageway. The purpose of this preliminary mining ground investigation is to provide initial information relating to the possible presence of underground mine-workings which may influence the design of the proposed scheme. Specific objectives are to: • Identify the thickness and type of superficial deposits overlying rockhead; • Establish the elevations and condition of coal seams, seat-earths and/or mineworkings at specific key asset locations within the site; • Establish geotechnical properties of the rock sequence; • Establish groundwater conditions within the rock sequence. The factual report produced by this investigation will form part of a tender package to a design and build Contractor. (See Section 1.8 of 'B2029702/GI-SPEC | 02' for details of required timescales).
