Level 2 Restorative Justice (RJ) provision Main objective is to provide a level 2 RJ service covering the Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council area and to recruit, train, manage and refresh a pool of volunteer facilitators to undertake RJ work with local people. Key elements of RJ work are set out below. • RJ enables perpetrators of wrongdoing to be made aware of, and take responsibility for, the consequences of their behaviour. • Perpetrators to have the opportunity to make reparation to victims and/or the wider community. • The affected ‘parties’ (or persons) will have the opportunity, if they wish, to have their say on how they have been affected, ask questions, and receive an explanation. • A contract may be drawn up with the parties which will identify the measures agreed to reduce the risk of a recurrence of any future unacceptable behaviour. • The service will deal with individuals from the age of 10 years. • Referrals will be made by front line professionals across a broad range of agencies.
