SEND Disagreement resolution and mediation

Tender description

All local authorities and health commissioners are legally obliged to provide independent disagreement resolution and mediation services for parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and for young people with SEND up to the age of 25 who have an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan, or have had an assessment for an EHC Plan. The service, which needs to be independent of the local authority, will provide information, advice, disagreement resolution and access to suitably trained and qualified mediators. The service will provide a forum to resolve differences of opinion where possible which arise between parents and young people, education providers the local authority and health on matters relating to SEND and social care and health provision.
