Rochdale Borough Council is procuring on behalf of the Integrated Commissioning Board for the provision of Integrated Community Equipment Services. Local Authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) work together to commission access to appropriate equipment that enables Service Users to live more independently or be cared for at home longer. Demand for equipment is increasing as a result of the ageing population, user expectations and advances in technology and medical services as well as a move to caring for people more appropriately in their own homes rather than in hospitals or care homes. Many people are wholly dependent on equipment for their daily living activities. Equipment is crucial in enabling timely discharge from hospital, supporting post-discharge recovery, preventing falls, preventing admission to care homes and hospitals and maintaining independence.
