Long Term Care Package for an Individual with Complex Care Needs

Nottinghamshire County Council is seeking a provider to be able to provide support to a Service User in his family home which is situated within the NG19 area. Living within the family home will be the Service User, his mother and his younger sister. The Service User's mother has her own care and support needs with her own additional support staff who will be present within the home during the day, at these times it can mean there is up to 6 people in the property at any one time. We are currently exploring 2 options which are: Option1: The Service User returns to live at home with 2:1 staff support 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The staff working at night will be waking night staff due to there not being a bedroom available for a sleep-in staff member. Option 2: The Service User will return to live at home for 3 nights a week where 2:1 staff support will be required for 24 hours a day for 3 days a week. The remaining 4 days a week he will reside in a residential placement. Due to the complex nature of this service it is expected that providers will have at least three year's experience of delivering services to people with learning disabilities and complex needs/challenging behaviour and a minimum of 1 year's experience of delivering this kind of service in a community setting. The purpose of this tender process is to explore what options are available within the local community to provide support into a home address. This is part of an on-going Court of Protection process and there is no certainty that at the end of the process the Court will make the decision for him to return home. The next date we are returning to Court is a the beginning of May. There will be no decisions made until after this date. Keywords: care, community, service
