Summary of the work The successful candidate will be expected to manage priorities in a diverse portfolio, providing technical support to data uploads, developments and contributing to service improvement projects. Knowledge transfer also forms a part of this role. Specialist role Delivery manager Expected Contract Length Up to 6 months Latest start date 20/03/17 Who Speclialist Work With We are a National team providing technical services, advice and guidance to share our data and information in line with legislation. We support the business to deliver their outcomes, and provide Data Sharing Services to the Defra Group. What Specialists Work On This role will play a critical part in technical delivery of the Data Sharing Platform Services, enabling the Defra Group to comply with INSPIRE Directive obligations. The service also allows us to publish Open Data, as well as providing a range of other business services such as flood data APIs, flood widgets, Bathing Water Explorer, Catchment Management Explorer and Public Register Services. Skills & Experience • Demonstrable experience of managing large, complex digital; operational and / or service management projects with a solid track record of leading complex deliveries. • Ability to manage and work with third party providers, external suppliers and internal teams to ensure timely provisioning and implementation of technical solutions • Experience of working with suppliers to contribute to and assure detailed technical design and commercial offerings. • Ability to cope in a technically complex and transformational environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations within constraints. • Adhere to agreed project delivery standards ensuring output/delivery is fit for purpose. • Strong planning and organising skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously. • Proven ability to communicate with key stakeholders at varying levels in both written and verbal communication, including the translation of technical communication to something understandable for a wider audience. • Demonstrable experience of successfully delivering projects within an AGILE / Prince 2 environment. Nice to Haves • Experience of Public Sector programmes. • Prince 2 Practioner • Agile Work Location Bristol Working Arrangments The individual will report the Data Sharing Service Manager, and will be responsible for setting priorities and leading technical delivery with suppliers. The individual will be expected to travel to supplier meetings in the South West and South East (reasonable expenses provided), and be on-site in Bristol 3 days per week. Please can you confirm if there are any particular types of Agile Methodology that are more preferable than others? There are different methodologies being applied at different times - although Scrum is more frequently used 2. Please can you confirm at what time on Tuesday does the window close for submitting responses? Noon on Tuesday 21st February 3. Can you advise if there is flexibility on the start date, would you wait for someone who needs to serve a 4 week notice period. There is some flexibility around the start date, but we are keen to start as close to the stated date as possible 4. Are you able to advise if you have a budget in mind for this role please. We do have a fixed budget, but we are choosing not to share that information as present.
