PHE - Porton Down ECAC Extract Refurbishment

Tender description

This project is to enable all 8 of the safety cabinets in the ECACC to be used concurrently, singularly or any combination of any number of cabinets/rooms. All the changes are to be made in the service area above the labs in the ECACC Extension. This is accessed by a staircase and a secure door on the outside of the building on the west end. There is additional data, in annexes on the end of the URS which gives readings and layouts that will be required in-order for a full understanding of the requirement and to enable the contractor to fully understand the requirements The Labs will be completely shut down for 5 days, which will be a Wednesday to Sunday inclusive to facilitate intrusive works to the existing distribution ductwork and any other works which require the ventilation system to be shut down. All other works are to be carried out in the equipment space above without affecting normal operation or shutting down the ECACC ventilation system. There are 8 safety cabinets in 5 rooms and the extraction volume from the 8 No cabinets will be approx. 1.216 m3/s. It is a requirement that any contractor carries out their own calculations to ensure this figure is correct.
