Tender description

1.1. The University of Cambridge, Department of Engineering is a leading research institution equipped with state of the art facilities for investigation of novel materials and development of electronic devices with improved performances and new functionalities. The Department includes extensive cleanroom facilities used for micro- and nanofabrication of electronic and optical devices. A fundamental step in the fabrication of such devices is the deposition of conducting and insulating thin (<1 µm) films. This is particularly important when coupled with lithographic techniques, such as electron-beam or optical lithography in order to fabricate contacts and other structures. The thin film deposition system will be located in class 1 000 cleanroom. Due to its flexibility of use and hence potentially a large number of users, it is expected that the deposition system will be used for a minimum of 8 hours a day, 7 days a week.
